The madien edition of Hon. Emeka Nwafor (KSC) Unity Football Competition for the 16 ISIEC Wards in Ngor Okpala will kick-off on Saturday March 16, at Ngor Okpala High school, Umuneke by 3pm.
Hon. Emeka, member representing Ngor Okpala state constituency at the State House of Assembly said that the competition is part of his programmes designed to empower the youths of Ngor-Okpala LGA.
Speaking during a press briefing in his office at the Imo State House of Assembly complex, Hon. Nwafor pointed out that Ngor Okpala Local Government Area is blessed with football talents, stating that his aim is to use the competition to help reduce social vices in the society as well as identify, develop and expose the skills inside the Youths for a better future.
In a chart with Imo Trumpeta’ Sports Chief, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Mr. Okey Azuonwu assured that every necessary arrangement has been made to ensure a hitch free competition that will not just identify talents, but go a long way to unite all the youths in the ISIEC Wards of Ngor Okpala LGA.
Okey further revealed that four centres will be used for the three week tournament which will run from march 16 till April 7, as Elelem ward takes on Ngor ward in the opener.
The centres are Ngor Okpala High School, Umuneke, Okpala Secondary School, Central School Umuohiagu and Umuoge Central School Imereienwe.
Also speaking, Mr John Nwaogu, a veteran Journalist and the State Sports Writers Association Chairman (SWAN), commended the efforts of Hon. Emeka, stating that with this more of Kanu’s will be identified.
The 16 Wards (teams); Elelem, Ngor, Obike, Ihitte/ Umukabia, Alulu / Oburu/Obokwe, Okpala, Amala/Ntu, Eziama, Obiangwu, Umuhu, Umuohiagu/Logwa, Nnorie/Ohekelem, Imerirnwe Umuekwune, Ozuzu and Nguru/Umuowa.
