Okorocha Finally Dumps APGA, Says It Is Cultural Organisation .As Senator Anyanwu Takes Over Leadership

The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, is said to have finally abandoned the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, the vehicle with which he arrived the Douglas House Owerri, the seat of Government in 2011.

Okorocha last week was said to have described APGA as a social cultural organization, which cannot carry his recent political stature, which only All Peoples Congress APC, is capable of. He also described the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as finished.

Sources told Imo Trumpeta that the Governor arrived at this present decision after APGA denied him at the merger arrangement which morphed into APC.

Following the latest development, the “owners” of APGA in Imo State, led by Chief Martin Agbaso is said to have rallied round to embrace their party and have even sacked Okorocha’s-appointed APGA State Chairman, Chief Okafor-Anyanwu, and replaced him with Chief Tony Mgbahuruike.

This Newspaper learnt that APGA members have decided to make Senator Chris Anyanwu the state leader of the Party, being the highest elected officer of the party.

Meanwhile, APGA sources said Governor Okorocha now is like a political orphan, since the APC is yet to gain authentication as it has not been officially registered by INEC.

A source close to Owelle Okorocha could neither confirm nor deny that the Governor has dumped APGA, but said that Okorocha will move with his numerous followers wherever he is going, be it APC or if he decides to remain in APGA.

It was learnt that the Martin Agbaso group of APGA, who are working with Gov Peter Obi of Anambra State, and Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu are happy with the present political confusion engulfing OKorocha’s camp.

The source maintained that Okorocha seems to have known that he would one day dump APGA, and deliberately refused to fund the party since he won election under its platform.

“Okorocha has continued to sustain his “Agenda” structure within APGA, by giving plum jobs to its members and abandoned real APGA members” Imo Trumpeta was told.

Imo Trumpeta discovered that Martin Agbaso and others have resolved to “rebuild” APGA, after Okorocha had gone, and prepare the party for the 2015 elections.

Meanwhile, Gov Peter Obi, and Bianca Ojukwu refused to visit Gov Okorocha last Thursday they visited Owerri to inspect the demolished Ojukwu Library being funded by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, the MASSOB Leader.

Imo Trumpeta learnt that both visitors were shocked why such act would been meted to the Library dedicated to Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu without security operatives dictating the incident or apprehending the perpetrators.

They were alleged to have likened the incident to the trouble brewing in APGA in the aftermath of the merger of political parties that gave birth to APC, which Obi said APGA was not a member.
