Okorocha Needs Encouragement- Nwosu

Imo State Lands and Housing Commissioner, Barr. Uche Nwosu has called on Imolites to encourage the efforts of Governor Rochas Okorocha to rescue Imo State.

Nwosu who spoke Forum of Imo Newspapers Editors in Owerri who paid him a courtesy call in his office, said what the governor deserve is  support from well meaning Imolites to motivate him to continue the good works he has embarked upon.

He added that several sectors of the economy of the State such as education and health have undergone tremendous transformation, adding that with the support of the people more dividends of democracy will come their way.

The Commissioner stressed that the three geo political zones have developed at a fast pace since Okorocha came on board,

He called on the opposition in the State to support the governor and at the same time only criticize constructively.

Nwosu who is Governor Okorocha’s son in law outlined some the achievements of the present administration, stressing that before the end of the first tenure of the administration, Imolites will have cause to smile.

He commended editors of local tabloids in the State for their commitment and dedication to work, urging them to improve on the quality and standard of newspaper publishing in Imo State. He also cautioned newspaper houses who engage in peddling false information and falsehood to desist from such acts as it negates the cardinal principles of the journalism profession.

Nwosu emphasized that such false information could incite the public against the government, advising editors of newspapers not to take advantage of the peaceful nature of the state to write fake and untrue stories. He promised to work closely with the forum, urging them to freely get in touch with his ministry on issues related to land and housing development in the State.

Earlier in his speech on behalf of the forum, the Interim Chairman of the body, Mr. Emeka Ike lamented over the neglect of Owerri based newspaper editors in the state by the Okorocha administration. He noted that editors of these newspapers have done a lot to encourage and assist the Okorocha administration to succeed, yet they have been deliberately marginalized.
