Merger APGA Grounds Okorocha .Vows to Remove Imo Gov Through Constitutional Process .Sack Imo Exco

More political fireworks came the way of Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha following his unilateral decision to drag Imo APGA to the merger of some opposition parties to form the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party also announced the sack of Prince Marshall Okafor Anyanwu as the state party Chairman by replacing him with an interim team led by one Tony Mgbeahuruike.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, Chief Chris Ejike Uche, National Deputy Chairman, (South), said they have given the Imo State Governor a period of grace and if he fails to retrace his steps, the party will not hesitate to take any constitutional means to remove him from office.

He emphasized that APGA is not part of the merger, stressing that a Buhari/Tinubu alliance does not augur well for the Igbos as it will not serve their interest. He added that it will be detrimental to the agitation for Igbos to produce the country’s president. He recalled that past Igbo leaders such as Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, rejected merger because they had the premonition that they could be submerged politically.

He announced the re-composition of Imo APGA, assuring that the party in the state will witness total reconstruction under the new leadership, assuring that the new executive will select people who are truly APGA in spirit and in soul to pilot the party at the wards and local governments.

Uche revealed that the interim leadership will hold congress on 18th April, 2013, to elect new leaders of the party from the ward to the LG levels.
