Defamatory Publication Ikeduru Deputy Leader, the Red Parrot Newspaper to face legal action.

The leader of Ikeduru Legislative Council, Rt Hon. Justice Nzeh has demanded an unreserved apology, compensation and retraction of a defamatory publication by the Red Parrot Newspaper and the signatory to the said Publication / Advertorial “Re: Dissociation Letter” of 21st January 2013. Hon. Ijeoma Chukwu, deputy leader of Ikeduru Legislative Council.

 

In a notice of intention to sue to court for damages signed by the principal solicitor to PC Obinata and Associates P.C. Obinaata Esq on behalf of their Chief, Hon. Nzeh, it was alleged that the advertorial to have emanated from the office of the deputy leader is an act of forgery uttering and defamation of the Client, believing that the purported signatory could not have convened any meeting where the said resolution was taken from her sick bed.

 

It was also stated according to the rule of the Council that the deputy is supposed to act on behalf of the leader, when absent and by his direction too, which was never the case here, Moroso, the deputy leader has denied  knowledge of signing any said resolution or any document in that respect.

 

Consequently, it is demanded that the newspaper retracts the publication, renders an unreserve apology in two national dailies and two state dailies with Red Parrot inclusive and a monetary compensation of N5m and N/m from Red Parrot and Hon. Ijeomah Chukwu respectively if they failed to comply with the forgoing demands within 21 days of receipt of the letter.
