AIFCE HOLDS 35TH MATRICULATION Provost reels out origin of college

 

The Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (AIFCE), has held its 35th matriculation ceremony. Speaking at the event, the AIFCE Provost, Dr (Mrs) B.C Ijioma described this year’s event as unique and special because it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the institution. She recalled that the college was established as Advanced Teachers’ Training College in April 1963 by the then Eastern Nigeria government in conjunction with UNESCO. According to her, the college was first sited at Shell Camp and had a massive impact in the education sector in the country producing  world class teachers, lecturers, businessmen and legislators.

Mrs Ijioma emphasizes that the College has grown to become the Primus Inter Pares, which means first among equals in colleges of education in Nigeria. She stressed that because of the achievements of the College, it is proud to celebrate fifty years of productivity.
