Vigilante Group Bursts Kidnap Gang In Njaba Community

Two kidnappers met their waterloo at the weekend, when the Vigilante group in the area intercepted their nefarious activities. Imo Trumpeta, who witnessed the arrest of the kidnappers, learnt that the kidnappers have been inflicting terror on prominent indigenes of Okwudor in recent times.

Some of the villagers, who spoke to this newspaper, condition of anonymity said for sometime, they have been sleeping with one eye closed due to the kidnapping acts of kidnappers in the area.

Luck ran of the gang, when they went after a prominent Chief in the area, (names withheld) who is known for his benevolence and disposition to assist the poor and the less privileged in Okwudor community.

The Chief was said to have left his house and sought the company of youths in his Nnenassa community. After wining and dining with the youths, on his way home, the kidnappers said to be five in number struck but were unfortunate to be intercepted by the eagle-eyed vigilante group.

Parading the suspects before villagers, a leader of the Vigilante group who does not want his name on print, said the gang has been inflicting terror on people in the area, stating that this prompted them to expedite security measures to deal with the menace which has paid off with the arrest of kidnappers.
