The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo state Chapter is to commence a tour of the twenty seven Local Governments in Imo state.
According to sources from the Party office in Okigwe road, Owerri, the tour is for fence – mending and sensitization of members which is imperative after every election year.
Imo Trumpeta learnt that the tour would afford the PDP the opportunity to reconcile individuals groups, heal old wounds, interact with new members and inform members that losing the Governorship election was not the end of the party in the State, as PDP is not only in power at the National level, but also produced nearly all the members of the National Assembly from the State.
Imo Trumpeta was informed that what PDP lost in the State at the Governorship, it has gained at the National Level Abuja, where a son ofImoState, and member of PDP occupies the exalted office of the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives in the person of His Excellency, Hon Emeka Ihedioha.
During the tour the PDP will resolve the supremacy battle between the “old members” and many of the PDP members who moved to other parties at the height of the last election, but are coming back to the PDP in their droves.
The issue has been where to place these returnees, whether to let them continue where they stopped before leaving the party, or queue behind as new comers.
The tour will also alert other political parties that PDP is still alive and bubbling in the state despite losing the Governorship seat to APGA.
A source who spoke to Imo Trumpeta said that the problem facing Imo PDP now is not how to canvass for more members, but how to welcome the legions of new comers, while boasting that no member has left the party in all the wards in the State.
“Imo PDP remains intact. Nobody has left, and we are rebuilding for the challenges ahead, as our brothers and sisters who left for one reason or the other are now back to the fold. We are still one family” Imo Trumpeta was told.
