.Account Officer Fingered, Risks Sack, Prosecution

An Account Officer in Imo State who is alleged to be harassing a young lady in one of the Ministries inside the State Secretariat complex located along Owerri Portharcourt road is likely going to be prosecuted.
The names of the suspect and the victim are withheld for obvious reasons for now but could be released in future.
The story has it that the Account Officer and the beautiful young lady of about 23years of age are working in the same Ministry and along the line, the Account Officer who is to be older than the lady started making love advances to the female worker.
The first move to get the attention the girl started like a joke but the young lady as we gathered turned down the request by jettisoning his gifts items. The man came for the second time last year and the Lady still maintained her stand and said no. Towards December 2023 the man in question made another advance which also hit the rocks, as we gathered.
At this point, the man in question who according to report is the Head of Accounts in that Ministry became angry and resolved to use his position to punish the lady for refusing all his love advances.
The man went further to plot for the termination of her job and made things difficult for the young lady, thereby creating a hostile working environment for her. This actions of the man made the young lady to inform her family lawyer of what she is passing through.
According to reports gathered, at least three other women have come forward to report that they experienced similar experience with the same Accounts Officer.
The lawyer wrote a letter on the matter and sent copies of the letter to the relevant authorities a copy, which we have now. We further learnt that the matter will soon be taken to court.
Similar things as we further gathered happened recently in Public Parastatals and Agencies in Imo state.
Concerned Imolites who reacted on this issue want the Governor to put a check on office Heads to avoid the reoccurring of such sexual harassments.
Female workers are also raising serious alarm over this alleged sexual harassment in offices in the State, lamenting that most of them are suffering in silent in order not to lose their job.
