..As Ambassador Ogbuagu Bankrolls 3 Tourneys In His Area
Newly assembled but solid Okeoshishi Football Club of Oguta LGA has humbled Heartland FC Team B otherwise known as Heartland Comets with alone goal in a friendly encounter played on Saturday at the Oguta Girl’s Primary School field.
The Okeoshishi FC Trumpeta Sports Desk gathered approached the game with mindset of impressing in their first ever friendly match but every attempt to establish themselves was thwarted by the visiting side who equally needed to ease matters for them as state owned team.
However, the motivated Okeoshishi FC player, Tochukwu Azubuike finally broke the deadlock in the 35 minutes of the game to send Oguta fans and the sponsored into excitement.
On resumption for the second stanza the Heartland Comets intensified theur search for the equalizer but the well tutored Okeoshishi FC side remained resolute as their defence line prove hard knot to crack for the visiting State side leaving the score line unchanged.
Reacting, Okeoshishi FC Coach, Daniel Okam described his team as a relatively young but promising side that can hold their own at any time any were, even as he showered encomium on the founder/ sponsor, Ogbuagu Ambassador Ifeanyi Ogbonna “Okeoshishi Na Oguta”
Also the Team Manager of Heartland Comets and former Iwuanyanwu National Players, Ekenna Nnadozie rated the Okeoshishi FC of as a formidable side that can go places.
Nigerian Premier League legend and former NPFL top scorer, Chibuzor Ozurumba thanked Ogbuagu Ifeanyi Ogbonna for setting a standard with the tournament that should be emulated as he called for sustenance.
Ex- Super Eagles player and member of the Atlanta 96′ Olympic gold medal winning football side, Mobi Oparaku identified some talented players from Okeoshishi FC whom he expressed if nurtured well would be future stars.
In his assessment, Former Ajax FC player cum President of Oguta All Stars, Peter Pan described Ogbuagu Ambassador Ifeanyi Ogbonna “Okeoshishi na Oguta” as one of the best Football promoters in Oguta and Imo State at large. He also Implored others to emulate the good work of Ogbuagu Ambassador Ifeanyi Ogbonna.
It could be recalled, that Ogbuagu Ambassador Ifeanyi Ogbonna (Okeoshishi Na Oguta) single handedly sponsored three categories of football tournaments in Oguta Local Government Council that ran from August to December comprising of 18 Communities in the Council Area.
27 Villages of Oguta took part in the male and female football tournament which ran from August to December 2023.
In the Oguta Village male football final, Ire United defeated Umueke village 4-2 on penalties, while, Ire United Queens defeated Umueke Queens in the women final.
In the Oguta Local Government Council category, Oguta fc defeated their counterpart from Awa to lift the converted Okeoshishi Cup
Female category Winners/Awards:
Ire United Queens 1st position got #300.000.
Umueke Queens 2nd position got #200.000.
And third placed team, Tomama Queens got #100.000
Individual Awards;
Okafor Chibuike won best goalkeeper.
Most Valuable Player of the tournament was won by Onu Nwakauche.
Highest goalscorer also went to Onu Nwakauche.
The Best behaved team award was won by Tomama Village.
