The managing Director of All Seasons Hotel, Deacon Ikeoku Mike will today, January 24 celebrate the heroic achievements of Heartland Football Club Owerri. Deacon Ikeoku, according to reports will be hosting the newly crowned Super Four Champions at Mimi’s place, located at Plot 5064 All Seasons Avenue beside All Seasons Hotel, New Owerri by 7pm. It could be recalled that the Naze millionaires added to their feathers the Super Four crown, a competition organized by the NFF’s newly constituted Interim Management Committee among the 4 teams that will be representing the nation in this season’s continental games.
The back to back Federation Cup Champions defeated Kano Pillars (NPL Champions) 1-0 in their first game. They were however held to a 2-2 draw by their Oriental brothers, Rangers International of Enugu before dispatching Lobi stars of Makurdi 2-0 on the final day to emerge champions.
Although, the state government through His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha has made promises to organize a dinner party for the king of kings in Nigerian football but Deacon Ikeoku out of his love for the club has decided to celebrate with the champions in the spirit of pushing them to do more especially in the forth coming NPL seasons as well as the CAF Confederations Cup Competition.
This surely will be a boost to the club as it will go a long way to give the team that sense of belonging as well spur them up to achieve more. It is however left to be desired how long it will take the government to organize a befitting dinner and give rewards to the team that have won three trophies in a space of three months,(The Federation Cup, the Charity Cup and now the Super Four Cup). The boys surely deserve to be celebrated like heroes as they really have done the state proud.
