•As Five Guber Competitors Congratulate Incumbent Governor
By Onyekachi Eze
In light of his declaration as the winner of the November 11, 2023 Imo State governorship election, Senator Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressive Congress, APC has extended an olive branch to his fellow contestants to join in building the State.
He asked them to separate partisan politics and join him in making Imo State great.
Uzodimma made the call at the Government House, Owerri, on Monday, November 13, 2023 in a State-wide broadcast in appreciation to Imo people for massively voting him in the election.
In accepting to serve Ndi Imo wholeheartedly and diligently for another tenure, the governor dedicated the victory to God and to Imo people.
He described his landslide victory as an emphatic vote of confidence the people have in his first four year journey as Governor, with unabated performance on human, capital and infrastructural development.
“This is an invitation to do more and to do better. I did not take this victory lightly. I will provide a platform for Imo people to have a say. I will keep to all the promises”.
Further reassuring of providing democracy dividends under the 3R mantra, Uzodimma pledged his administration’s poise for accountability.
Hence, he called on all the opponents who contested for the position to close ranks and work with him, stressing that his administration has never discriminated and would not start so now.
“In every contest, only one person emerges. To the persons that contested with me, they didn’t lose, but Imo people won.
“Let all of them join hands with me in serving our people. I invite them to come with their ideas for the service of Imo people. I will work with all”, said Governor Hope Uzodimma.
He also thanked all and sundry for the trust reposed in him.
Meanwhile, while congratulations are in order for the victory of Uzodimma who polled a total of 540,308 votes to defeat his rivals, five out of the seventeen Guber contenders have congratulated the APC’s winner, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The five candidates include; Hon. Edoziem Clinton Chibuike (Allied People’s Movement, APM), Prince Andy Anyabuike (Zenith Labour Party, ZLP), Dr. Lawrence Col Okwara (National Rescue Movement, NRM), Ishiodu Uchechukwu (People’s Redemption Party, PRP) and Dr. Iwuanyanwu Isaac (Boot Party).
Speaking shortly after the Governor’s address, the five opposition Candidates disclosed that they had come to
congratulate governor Uzodimma on his Victory.
According to them, the November 11 election was the most peaceful polls in the history of Imo State polity.
“The election was the most peaceful. It is not possible for one to rig election in 27 LGAs, and 305 INEC Wards across the State. I call on my other brothers to come and join in rebuilding Imo with our brother, Governor Hope Uzodimma. He has a soft heart. Let us leave the place of pride and come to the place of humility”, they enthused.
