..As Town Union President Vows Elevate Tourney

International business mogul and philanthropist, Mr Eric Upright Ngaobidi , the CEO of Upright Oil and Gas has set aside the sum of one million, five hundred thousand Naira (N1,500,000 ) for this seasosns Ozara football Fiesta.

Ngaobidi an indigene of Umuobioma Ozara made this donation ahead of the tournament which is scheduled to kickoff on the 28th of December and will end in January 2024.

Ozara autonomous community in Oru West local government of Imo state is made up of seven mother villages/communities namely;

1. Umuogu
2. Umuokporoma
3. Umuezike
4. Umuobioma
5. Etitilabu
6. Ubalananwam
7. Aboh

Ozara football fiesta is an annual inter village age long event of the the town union, Ozara Progressives union (OPU). Prior to the present Exco the tournament was only aimed at providing a sort of entertainment to the people of Ozara during the festive period but the Kingsley Azarama led Exco of OPU this time has decided to raise the bar by taking it to a higher standard where scouts can be made available to scout footballing talents so that through this venture, Ozara youths will now be empowered through sports by following a laid down footballing career path.

In an exclusive interview with the Statesman Newspaper sports desk Azarama said;

“During my campaign for the office of the president general of the town union, I promised the youths of Ozara that the Ozara football fiesta will be rebranded to the international level so youths will make money from the fiesta and raw talents in the community will be exposed to football scouts.
This is why we have carefully chosen football organizing experts and enthusiasts to manage this football tournament. In as much as this is still in the pipeline, the door is still open for more sponsorship because we had the initial budget at 5 million Naira.
But in all this, one thing is certain, we have raised the bar a notch and won’t go below standard, so the next edition will be aimed at 10million. This is the kind of progress we strive for and with collective efforts, we will attain it.” Azarama concluded.

The Azarama led OPU executives inaugurated a football committee to oversee the successful running of the tournament on behalf of the donor. Which has been outlined as follows.

1. Chibuzor Odunze -Chairman
2. Nwachukwu Onyeka Vice chairman
3. Ahize Nnamdi – Technical director/ consultant
4. Ozara Youth leader
5. Youth leaders of all the seven villages in Ozara

The members of this committee has been charged with the responsibility of putting together a standard tournament that will be showcased to the world and made visible to scouts around the world through online live stream for talent hunt.
