The spate of insecurity which has engulfed the Agwa, Izombe and Ejemekwuru Communities in Oguta LGA, Imo State is gradually spreading its tentacles to other neighbouring communities of Orogwe, Ohii, Ndegwu, Amakohia-ubi and Irete, in Owerri-West LGA.
Apart from previous incidents, Orogwe and Ndegwu Communities last Tuesday tasted the sour grape of life as unknown gunmen snuffed life out off two youths in the Community at about 9.30pm.
Reports said the deceaseds resisted surrendering their phones when the unknown gunmen accosted them at the Community’s market square.
In the ensuing melee, the AK47- welding attackers used their instrument to shatter of the victims heads and fled the scene.
A witness, who pleaded anonymity, said the nearby Ogbaku Police Division which was contacted immediately the incident happened place said they were handicapped that night to render any form of assistance, not even conveying the bodies to a nearby mortuary.
However, out of communal efforts the two corpses were removed to a nearby mortuary.
Many Community leaders who spoke to this Newspaper, but wouldn’t want their names in print, lamented the incessant attacks on the Community by hoodlums and appealed that military personnel be posted to the area immediately.
Other speakers said the Orogwe Community presently is like a flock of sheep without shepherd because both the Town Union President and Traditional Ruler are living in the diaspora.
Same last Tuesday, another young man was shot dead in a charlet in Ndegwu in Owerri West.
A narrator, in confidence, told this Newspaper that the young man had hardly concluded arrangements to book a room than the unknown gun men swooped on him and pumped some bullets into his body.
Details of the two incidents were still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.
