KANU COMMENDS OZARA INDIGENES FOR SUPPORTING THEIR YOUTHS THROUGH SPORTS

Former Super Eagles Skipper and nowImoStateSpecial Adviser to the Governor on Sports, Ambassador. Kanu Nwankwo has praised the efforts of Ozara indigenes for uplifting their youths through sports.

Kanu who was represented by his personal assistant, Mr Raymond Ebede at the final game of Ozara Unity football competition, described football as the only unifying factor in the whole world that has continued to project peace in every society.

He thanked specially, the Ozara indigenes in diaspora led by Mr Anene Derrick for finding time and channeling their resources into giving back to the society and also help to fish out raw talents who will go a long way to be like Kanu in the near future.

The final game which took place at theOzaraCentralSchoolplayground saw Umuezike clinch the coveted trophy after beating Umuogu on penalties 4-3.

Past donors of similar tournaments in Ozara autonomous community were however decorated with gold medals for their contributions in community development. The recipients are Mr Sparko, Chief Gregory Eboh, family of late Mr Stamford, Sir Bartho Okafor, Cornel Azuka Obi, Mr Lawrence Mbaama, Mr Anselem Chibugo, Mr Eddy Obodo and Sir Vick-more Okafor.

In his speech to the people of Ozara, Mr Anene who is the Chairman of Ozara United in Germany, a forum of Ozara indigenes based in Germany, stated that the football competition was one of the side attractions lined up to celebrate what his Union has decided to donate to their beloved community. Among the donated items were about 500 reaching derk donated by members of Ozara United inGermanyto theirCommunitySchoolto help their younger ones always study in a conducive environment.

 

He also appreciated the presence of the SA on sports to our amiable Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha who was ably represented by his PA, Ebede, describing Kanu as an epitome of Success, while calling on the youths of Ozara to emulate his footsteps.

On the entourage of the SA were Mr Ray, Obinna Ajuobi(South Africa), Stella Ebede(P.R.O Abia State Sports Council), Henry Osuji(Heartland F.C), Kennedy Onwunali (Silver Sports) and yours truly Orji Sampson(Imo Trumpeta).
