It appears a breath of fresh air in the fold of Abia Warriors as the new hierarchy of the Nigeria Premier League side has embarked projects that will aid the team’s performance in the coming 2023/2024 domestic top flight.
As a first step, the new leadership of the club is understood to have commenced renovation work at the Umuahia Stadium.
This involves regressing the pitch to ensure it Earns the IMC nod for their home games in the coming season.
Checks reveal that ‘yellow’ and ‘bald’ areas of the pitch are receiving attention in this regard.
Also, we gathered that the players camp has equally been fumigated as the players trickle in for resumption for the coming season.
It was gathered that the projects are being undertaken by the new chairman from his own ‘pocket’.
“You’re are aware that our players have started regrouping for preparation for the 2023/2024 season”, starts the young club boss, Innocent Oweh, when contacted.
“So, we needed to prepare the camp before they come in. And having left the camp since the abridged season ended, it becomes imperative that we fumigate the came.
“Yes, we’re doing some work at the (Umuahia) Stadium. We want to ensure that the pitch is in good shape to ensure that the players expressed themselves well during games.
“We’re still on it so I can’t say exactly how much its costing. And when you’re doing something from your own purse you don’t just begin to tell people how much you’re spending on the project”, Oweh explained.
