.Kill Three Civil Defence Officers

The relative peace that had reigned in Imo State for some period of time appears to have ended following the resurfaced killing by unidentified culprits.

The notion came to the fore following the killing of officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Ngor Okpala Area of the State.

Recall that there have been a series of unrest as a result of the activities of the unknown gunmen.

Aside from the attacks on police formations, residential buildings belonging to the most prominent individuals were not left out.

It was an interesting scenario therefore that throughout the election campaigns till the last date of voting, no gunshots or killing was recorded anywhere in Imo State, only to resume operation after the polls.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the killing of two of its men by bandits in Obiangwu in the Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The state spokesman for the corps, Chimeziri Noel, who confirmed the incident to Channels Television, and obtained by Trumpeta Newspaper said as part of the primary assignment and mandate of the agency, the officers were on routine monitoring of some critical national assets and infrastructure in the area when the incident occurred.

Noel said the NSCDC officers were attacked and killed by bandits in the early hours of Monday, adding that their bodies had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri.

According to him, while an investigation has kicked off into the unfortunate incident, the command with the assistance of other security agencies has activated a search party to go after the hoodlums.
