The long awaited supplementary election for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal constituency Seat and Njaba/Isu/Nkwerre/Nwangele Reps will be conducted tomorrow, March 25, 2023.
The re-run is bidded to hold at the polling units where the electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC declared inconclusive due to perceived irregularities and or violence.
Recall that the Presidential and National Assembly polls were held on February 25,2023.
While other Rep members-elect have been issued with the Certificate of Return, the likes of Honorables Ugonna Ozuruigbo OZB, Harrison Nwadike, Uche Ogbuagu, Akarachi Amadi and others in the ring were shoved aside until tomorrow’s re-run results are added to the already registered results in the IREV.
Following the outcome of the February 25th exercise, there have been claims and counter claims from both APC and Labour Party sides for the MBAIKE Federal Constituency position.
The Labour Party candidate, Uche Ogbuagu had in a press conference accused the father of the APC candidate, Mr Charls Amadi of plot to rig the election in favour of his son, Akarachi Amadi. He further alleged that APC attempted to upturn the victory which he claimed he was on the early lead for the results already collated.
On the contrary, Amadi refuted the said report and claimed that Ogbuagu only seek a sympathy vote, and not anywhere close to victory.
The two parties, excluding the PDP, APGA, ADC and others were silent awaiting the final exercise and result tomorrow.
Since then, they have embarked on door-to-door sensitization to woo the electorate for votes. Who carries the day in Mbaike remains a puzzle.
On Njaba, Isu, Nkwerre, Nwangele federal constituency, the die is cast between the two top contenders, OZB and Nwadike. While OZB of the PDP so far is leading, Nwadike of the APC is seconding him followed by the Labour Party man.
The results from Njaba LGA is believed to be holding the declaration and announcement of winner for NINN, the major reason why the re-run is scheduled only for Njaba LGA.
