The immediate past State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council, Chief Fidel Onyeneke has been appointed the National Trustee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). The appointment was announced inJigawaStateon Thursday by the National President of NUJ, Alhaji Garba Mohammed at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of theUnion.
He explained that the appointment of Chief Onyeneke was ratified by the Central Working Committee (CWC) and NEC of NUJ in recognition of his sterling qualities and leadership acumen. Alhaji Garba described Chief Onyeneke as a man of integrity and honesty who would use his wealth of experience to add value to the growth of theUnion.
Speaking on his elevation, Chief Onyeneke thanked all the Journalists in Imo and the entire Country for finding him worthy to serve them as a National Trustee. Chief Onyeneke promised to work with dedication in order to further uplift the standard of Journalism practice in the country. Meanwhile, many individuals and groups have sent congratulatory messages to Chief Onyeneke on his appointment as the National Trustee of theUnion. They include the renowned public opinion analyst, Dr Chuks Osuji, the Imo State Chairman of NUJ, Sir Innocent Igwe, the Imo State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Chinedu Offor, the Imo State Chairman of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Mr. Sunny Osuji, South East zonal leaders of NUJ, including the Chairmen of Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia State Councils, among others.
