The winners of the 3rd Edition of the Ikukuoma Mbaise Unity Cup Tournament 2022/23, Uvuru FC of Aboh Mbaise, as well as the competition’s first runners-up Ogbe Ward 2 of Ahiazu Mbaise were presented with their cash prizes on Friday, 17th of March 2023.
The prizes were presented to them at the Ezeagbogu, Ezinihitte Mbaise country home of the Founder of Ikukuoma Sports Development Foundation, High Chief Dr. Summers V.C Nwokie, who is the initiator and sole sponsor of the competition.
Receiving them in his sprawling mansion, the humanitarian maestro commended the teams and their technical crews for the feats attained, even as he urged them to put more efforts in the development of their football career.
The Director General of the organising foundation, Comrade Julius Nnaji, who also was on ground expressed his delight with the teams as he praised them for their high level of discipline and comportment.
Thereafter, the sum of Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N2.500.000.00) was handed over to the the winners, Uvuru FC, being the elite cash prize for the tournament, while the sum of One Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N1.500.000.00) was handed over to the Ogbe Ward 2 team from Ahiazu Mbaise. amidst light refreshments.
In their separate appreciation speeches, the leaders of the teams were full of appreciation for the amiable sponsor of the tournament, as they extolled him for his efforts at empowering the youths through sports. They equally thanked the Ikukuoma Sports Development Foundation for their distinct organization and fairness while the competition lasted, even as they promised that they will make good and judicious use of their largesse.
It will be recalled that Uvuru FC of Aboh Mbaise defeated Ogbe Ward 2 FC of Ahiazu Mbaise in the Finals of the competition to emerge winners, and were crowned winners of the 3rd Edition of the football tournament.
