Imo PDP Accuses Police of Being Used To Hunt Members

.Calls For Removal of Commissioner

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State chapter has accused the Imo State Police Command of being used by Imo State Government to hunt and detain their members.

In a Press release signed by its State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Comrade Collins Opurozor, the PDP said that the Police in Imo State has been “Politicized”.

This followed an invitation extended to Imo PDP Chairman, Chief Charles Ugwu to produce a former Governor of Imo State, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, his Deputy, Hon Gerald Irona (who is already in detention) and House of Representatives-Elect, Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere, to answer questions bordering on Murder, Kidnapping and Arson.

The party said that it “regrets that the police in Imo State has abdicated its duty of protecting lives and property and has instead allowed itself to be so debased and abused by Senator Hope Uzodinma, and deployed as tool for political vendetta”.

Imo PDP wondered why the Police in the State has refused to invite or arrest the suspects that burnt down Ikenga Ugochinyere’s property running into millions of Naira where he lost an uncle but were quick to invite the same man for murder allegations.

“Our Party calls on Inspector-General of Police to quickly step into this matter to create a more responsible and responsive police command in Imo State by overhauling the highly politicized structure in the State and remove the current Commissioner of Police”.
