Uzodinma Appointees May Lose Positions Over Loss of Polling Booths

By Okey Alozie

Following the inability of some appointees of the Shared Prosperity Government in Imo State led by Senator Hope Uzodinma to deliver in the February 25th General Election, there is palpable fear amongst them that there is going to be  cabinet reshufflement to drop those who could not win in their booths.

Information revealed that the appointees of Governor Hope Uzodinma especially Commissioners failed to deliver their various booths as promised.

Even the party officials from the wards, local government up to the State level also failed woefully after allegedly collecting enough funds for logistics.

Our correspondent learnt that the funds were diverted to personal use and did not get to the followers at the grassroots. Even the party agents as we gathered were not taken care of as most of them could not get tags.

At Aboh Mbaise, it was alleged that party officials especially at Lorji could not distribute logistics properly and as a result there were protest votes. People showed their anger by casting their votes for the opposition parties.

All the party officials could not show capacity again.

Further information revealed that there was a cold war between government appointees and party officials in area which eventually may have worked against APC.

At Ngor Okpala, appointees of the 3R administration also could not mobilize well as was gathered from a reliable source.

Some of the APC women and youths who spoke to our reporter submitted that the appointees did not do their work very well.

The aggrieved women revealed that their APC leaders hijacked funds and other items that was supposed to come to them since December 2022.

The women even vow to continue to protest against the officials and leaders of APC for cheating, suppressing and hijacking party funds.

In Owerri North, our reporter who covered booth 014 at Christiana Hospital Egbu observed that Hon Mrs Ann Dozie, Commissioner incharge of Water Resources did very well in her own booth.

The female Commissioner acted like a mother to everybody that came for the election by providing chairs, tables and canopies. She even gave everybody that came their water to drink.

Only few appointees in Okigwe zone lived up to the expectation of the party. In Orlu zone some of the appointees struggled to win.

This paper equally gathered that 24hrs to the general election, APC top politicians deserted the zone. Many were alleged to have went inside hiding and did not vote at all.

It could be recalled that before the election proper, most of these appointees boasted to show capacity but unfortunately, they disappointed because they were not on ground as we were made to understand.

Good number of the appointees have allegedly been rejected by their people long ago because of alleged embezzlement of funds. Even those appointed few hours to the election, could not deliver also.

The present result have made some of them to keep away from government house. Those who felt that they have disappointed the Governor are now very much ashamed of coming close to him.

Even the party State Chairman is said to have lost his ward to the opposition.

As a result of this disappointments, prominent APC members are calling on the Governor to consider it necessary as a matter of urgency to Reshuffle his cabinet ones again and appoint those who have the capacity to win the March 11,2023 House of Assembly election in Imo State.
