Abandoned Projects Ohakim weeps for Imo I left N32.6b for Oguta Wander Lake, N23b for Owerri/Ph Road.

The immediate past Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim was almost in tears two days ago when he reflected on certain issues bothering the state.

Speaking during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP rally in Isiala Mbano, the former Governor regretted that the present administration under Owelle Rochas Okorocha has abandoned some projects he began thereby leading the state to experience colossal waste.

Ohakim noted that Okorocha’s efforts to delete some lofty projects of his predecessors has been one of the greatest hallmark of the present government, adding that Imo people are at the loosing end of the hate politics perpetrated by the government.

Some of the policies abandoned by Okorocha according to Ohakim are the 10,000 job scheme, 400 water scheme projects, 150 km free way that cut across 19 LGAs, which was 60% completed, three ring roads designed by Mbakwe’s administration to decongest the town and capture all flood from Mbaitolu, 100 classroom block completed in 100 days in office, the Clean and Green Initiative and electronic criminal detecting project.

Speaking further, Ohakim lamented the disappearance of all the generating sets installed at various corners of the state to power the street and traffic lights warning that Okorocha should stop deceiving the people by diverting people’s attention from all these atrocities, inactions, incapabilities and inabilities in office by constant abuse and blackmailing of his predecessors.

“Imo people are more enlightened and sophisticated than he thinks and they now know better. So no amount of baseless, cheap blackmail and promises will distract the public again,” Ohakim added.

On Okorocha’s threat to probe him, Ohakim said that he is ready and willing to face any probe on account of what he did while in office. According to him “all my activities and actions are all backed by the law and constitution. I challenge Okorocha to prove me wrong with facts and figures than unwarranted blabbing and ranting. Ikedi is not the issue in the state. The issue here is insecurity of life and property of which our dear state Imo is topping the list of kidnap cases across the nation which Okorocha attested to be financially motivated and not political. What a shame!”

Ohakim wondered why Okorocha should not be thinking of priorities and obligations in Government House than resort to cheap blackmail. The former Governor went further to disclose how he handled over the sum of N32.6b meant for the development of Oguta Wander Lake to Okorocha and another N23b for dualisation of Owerri/PH Road, stating  that Okorocha should tell Imo people what he did with the monies than distract the attention of the people under the guise of probing him.
