.Orlu Top Politicians Desert Zone
.May Not Vote Due To Insecurity
.As Okigwe Zone Also Boils
Even as the much awaited 2023 General Elections come tomorrow, Saturday, February 25, 2023, most of the top politicians from Orlu Zone are still holed up in Owerri the State capital, and may not return home to perform their civic duties.
According information available to Trumpeta, the situation cuts across board, as politicians from Orlu Zone in Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, All Progressive Congress, APC, All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, and Labour Party, LP, are all still in the State capital, scared of returning home to vote candidates of their choice.
Trumpeta was told that the affected persons reside in the State capital presently, and have not visited their homes since Orlu Zone was engulfed with insecurity. Those who visit home, sources said only sneak in disguised and leave immediately after seeing their aged parents.
However, Trumpeta investigations unveiled that not all the LGAs in Orlu Zone are volatile, as relative peace exists in some part of the zone.
Orlu, which is the largest Political Zone in Imo State has remained the most devastated, since dare devil Hoodlums unleashed mayhem in Imo State.
Some of the LGAs with relative peace in Orlu are Nkwerre, Isu, Njaba, Ohaji/Egbema, Oru East and West, including Orlu LGA.
However, the no-go area in Orlu, Trumpeta was told, is Orsu LGA, where unknown Gunmen rule as kings.
Sources said that while Electorate may venture out to cast their votes in the areas described as quiet in Orlu Zone, some places are deserted with the inhabitants moving to more peaceful areas in the State.
Unfortunately, Okigwe Zone which had remained peaceful with occasional disturbances in places like Obowo and Ihitte Uboma, has suddenly went up in chaos.
Just a few days ago, houses belonging to a sitting Commissioner and a former Commissioner in the area were set on fire.
Even the residence of a retired Director in the Secret Police of Nigeria was also torched, where a woman in the House was roasted in the inferno.
However, the Police and Army have assured protection to all Imo voters as they troop out to exercise their franchise to elect a new President of Nigeria and members of National Assembly.
Well, it still remains to be seen if the politicians in the volatile areas of Imo State will brave it and travel home with their families and participate in the Saturday election.
