Tomorrow, Saturday, February 25, 2023, qualified Imo State Electorate will only troop out in their mass and exercise their voting rights, as the opportunity could come same time next four years.
Reports have it that Imo State have over three million voters who are eager to be part of history tomorrow.
Already, the State and Federal Governments have given holidays for the masses to go home and perform all this important constitutional responsibility.
Four major political parties will slug it out in the election in Imo State.
They are the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, and the Labour Party, LP.
Because Imo State Governorship election is coming later in the year, the concentration now in Imo is the Presidential Election, the Senate and House of Representatives.
The Presidential election is among Alhaji Ahmed Tinubu of APC, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of PDP and Mr Peter Obi of Labour Party and others.
In the Senatorial Election, all the three major parties have candidates for the position in the Three Zones of Imo State except PDP that lost its candidate in the Court in Orlu Senatorial District.
In Okigwe Zone, there is Chief Emma Okewulonu of PDP, Bar Ifeanyi Araraume LP and Hon Ndubueze of APC and others.
In Orlu there is Chief Charles Ahize (LP) and Senator Osita.
In Owerri Zone, PDP has a candidate in Hon Uche Onyeagocha, APC has Prince Mbata. Accord Party is parading Chief Mike Nwachukwu and others.
In the Federal House Seat in Owerri zone, it is going to be a direct battle between Engr Alberth Agulanna (PDP) and Hon Chidi Akwiti (APC) in Ngor Okpala/Aboh Mbaise Federal Constituency.
In Ahiazu/Ezinihittee, Hon Emeka Chinedu of PDP, who is the sitting member has Hon Nnanna Igbokwe (APC), a former National Assembly member to contend with.
In Owerri Federal Constituency, Chief CDB Williams of PDP will challenge the sitting Lawmaker, Hon Ikenna Elezianya of PDP.
For Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, the battle is among Hon Henry Nwawuba of APGA, Hon Uche Ogbuagu, Labour Party, Chief Osmond Ukamachi PDP and Mr Akarachi Amadi (APC).
In Obowo/Ihitte Uboma/Ehime Mbano Federal Constituency, former Lawmaker, Hon Jonas Okeke will fight the incumbent Legislator, Hon Chike Okafor for the Seat.
For Okigwe/Onuimo/Isiala Mbano Federal Constituency, it is a fight between Chief Chikwem Onuoha of Labour Party and incumbent Hon Maria Onuoha of APC. There is also Hon Obinna Onwubuariri of PDP.
In Orlu Zone, Chief Kinsgley Uju of PDP will have to demolish Chief Dibia Agwu of APC if he must return to the National Assembly to represent Oguta/Ohaji/Egbema/Oru East in the Federal House again.
For Ideato Federal Constituency, Chief Ikenga Ugochinyere will face an uphill task in the incumbent, Hon Paschal Obi.
However, among all the candidates, Ikenga has the most sympathy and emotion from the voters, following the trouble he has been going through just because of the ticket.
Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Federal Constituency is a battle ground, with the APC and PDP slugging it out, as Omogo na Orlu should be facing a serious challenge.
Even though sources said he has done well and is Governor Hope Uzodinma’s trusted Ally.
