Even as the present administration is yet to reach half mark of the stipulated four-year tenure, interested office seekers have begun to make their desires for the 2015 general election.
To erase doubts that he is the man to beat in the next gubernatorial election for the number one position in Imo state, frontline politician and former Minister of Interior, Capt Emmanuel Iheanacho, yesterday unveiled reasons why he wants to be Imo State Governor in 2015.
Speaking to Forum of Imo Newspaper Editors in Owerri, yesterday, Iheanacho said his ability to serve the people ofImoStateby impacting positively on their lives is the required tonic propelling him to aspire for the highest office in the state.
The business mogul and boss of the flourishing Integrated Oil and Gas firm said he has proven his mettle in the private sector, adding that wealth and job creation will be his priority when elected into office.
According to the ex-minister, his focus will be on job and wealth creation, saying that emphasis should not be placed on the altar of zoning. He said the issue of zoning has promoted mediocrity; though he aligned himself to the clarion call by Owerri Zone to produce the next governor ofImoState. Iheanacho said what should be paramount in the minds of Imolites is to ensure that they get the best at the top of governance.
He said that he believes he ranks among the best among the contenders for the plum job, having excelled in the private sector and performed creditably as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Iheanacho noted that what is paramount in his mind is to articulate the progress and development of the people ofImoState.
In a related development Captain Ihenacho in his altruistic posture has visited Ancillia Motherless Babies Home, Emekuku in Owerri North where he donated several bags of rice, cartons of pampers, biscuits and bournvita. Other cartons of items areNANbaby food, sardines, peak milk for adult and children.
Speaking during the visit, Captain Iheanacho disclosed that the motherless babies and less privileged persons deserve help and support during this festive season, adding that the abandoned and less privileged children should be encouraged to enjoy and participate in Christmas like others.
According to the former Minister, some of the abandoned children have no one to cater for them, hence the need to visit them regularly.
Addressing the officials of the motherless babies home, Captain Ihenacho disclosed that it is not only the politicians or the political group that deserve Christmas messages, the less privileged and motherless babies also deserve a mention. The Emekuku-born player in oil and gas industry advised wealthy persons in the society to always consider motherless persons in their kind gestures.
In their response, the spokesperson for the Motherless Babies Home, Rev Sir Cecilia Nwaeze was grateful to Capt Ihenacho for always visiting them during crucial moments. The Rev Sir who was elated by the visit stated that they have been expecting Capt Iheanacho since visiting them has been his normal routine as one of their greatest benefactor. They promised to make good use of the items donated to them.
