..As Club Sizes Up Heartland In Friendly Wednesday
As clubs in Nigeria get ready for the 2023 Aiteo Cup especially at the state level, First Mahi FC and the women’s side, First Mahi Babes over the weekend record away boosting victories in Umuahia, Abia state and Awka, Anambra state.
On Friday the Abajah in Nwangele LGA, based side travelled to Umuahia where the male side engaged Supreme Kings FC Academy an NLO One side at the Evangel High High School sports ground, coming from behind to earn a 1-2 victory.
The home side went in front in the second stanza after a scoreless first half but the Mahi Boys rallied round with high pressing game to equalize through Egeoluha Emanuel “Olombo” before captain of the day, Oliseh Divine secured the winning goal from the spot after the home sides goalkeeper appended on Furtune Onuoha inside the box with about 5 minutes to play.
High light of the encounter which apart from helping both teams to prepare for this year’s Aiteo Cup games also enabled both sides to also prepare for the forthcoming 2023 NLO One League games later in April this years.
In a related development, the First Mahi Babes (women side of the team) also got a away friendly victory in Awka, Anambra State, where the Mahi Babes got the better of their Awka Angels FC at the Awka City Stadium, Anambra state 0-1 with the only goal of the very thrilling encounter coming from Ruth …….. Who talked in a beautiful cross from Ijeoma after a well worked inter changing of play between Tracy and Goodness Chize.
The Mahi Babes could have had more goals as they controlled the tempo of the game but for their wasteful efforts in front of goal towards the end of first half and in the second half.
Reacting after the encounters at Umuahia and Awka, coach of the side Manila Gift said the team will continue to improve on their game pattern which is to press their opponents noting that the team is still a work in progress with so much room for improvement.
Meanwhile, First Mahi Fc male team will continue their new seasons preparations with a high profile friendly against Oriental side and 5 time NPFL champions, Heartland FC on Wednesday.
The encounter which is slated for Dan Anyiam stdiuam, Owerri by 3pm will further afford both sides the chance to fine tune their game plans ahead this years Aiteo Cup and 2023 NNL for Heartland as well 2023 NLO One for First Mahi FC.
When both sides met last two seasons in a preseason encounter, Heartland ran away 1-0 but were held to a 1-1 draw late last year.
