Prince Ogbonna Hails Chituru’s Wheelchair Tennis World Cup Qualification

 _..Urges Heartland Queens Against Naija Ratels_

The Imo State Sports Commission Chairman, Prince Sir Eleazar Onyewuchi Ogbonna, has hailed Chituru Nwaozuzu on her qualification for the BNP Paribas Wheelchair Tennis World Cup slated for Portugal later this year.

In a good will massage to congratulate the athlete, Prince Ogbonna restated the Commission’s readiness to carry out the mandate of Governor Hope Uzodinma to return Imo Sports back to the pinnacle noting that Chituru’s outstanding performance epitomizes the Governor’s plan for Imo Sports.

The Imo Born multiple athlete struck gold as she beat her Moroccan opponent 6-3, 6-4 in the final of the African qualification series of the BNP Paribas World Cup held in Abuja, Nigeria, to book a place at the global tennis fiesta where she will not just represent Nigeria but also the African continent.

Only one country will represent each continent at the world cup.

Meanwhile, the Sports Commission Chairman, Prince Sir Eleazar Onyewuchi Ogbonna has in a related development urged players and technical crew of Heartland Queens FC to be at their best when they face Naija Ratels in Wednesdays match day 9 NWFL league encounter against Naija Ratels FC of Abuja.

Sir Ogbonna who expressed his optimism on the teams capacity to excel in the league asked them not to dwell on the last game which they lost to Osun Babes FC urging them to bring back that Spartans Spirit’ which he noted has been key for all Imo athletes.

He reassured the team of the Government’s support stating that the State Commissioner for Sports, Hon Emeka OKoronkwo has been on top of the situation with assurances from the Governor to make Imo athletes happy including the two state owned teams (male & female) to enable them do well this season.
