..As Eze Duruegbuso, Uju, Others Express Gratitude
The 2022 edition of Akunaepuome Unity cup has successfully taken place at Central School field Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area of Imo state.
The grand finale saw Amakor team and Ubah team trashing it out, ended with a 1-0 victory against Ubah village as Amakor village team smiled home with victory.
Speaking with newsmen after the competition, the sponsor, Imperial High Chief Ambassador Ikenna Duru “Akunaepuome 1” said he was motivated to set the cup to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship on the youths of Umuaka and also to empower them and make them busy and better youth for themselves, he urged the teams to keep up with the spirit of sports to eradicate ill vices.
Also speaking with newsmen chief UjuUgochukwu (Agbawodike Izu of Amazano, Ezienyika Nwanne of OboroAmurie) the coordinator of the 2022 edition expressed thanks to the sponsor Imperial High Chief Akunaepuome, he also expressed happiness that the event was a successful outing despite insecurity, he disclosed that 9 teams participated, with Amako village breaking the record of first position, Ubah second and Obeakpu third, he urged the defeated teams to know that football is a game, urging them to prepare well and put more effort for next season, while congratulating the Amakor Village team for their effort.
In a chat with newsmen, the traditional ruler of Umuele Autonomous Community HRH Eze Ceaser Duruegbuso, commended the year’s football competition he thanked the sponsor, Imperial High Chief Ikenna Duru for empowering the youths of Umuaka through football competition, adding that with this young talents will be discovered and Umuaka will be among the league of hall of fame.
