Imo State Government through the Ministry of Youth, Sports AND Social Development has taken the states darling Female football side, Heartland Queens Fc through NWFL 2023 first round which ended on Wednesday 18th January.
According to a release made available to Trumpeta sports desk and signed by Ogbu Queen Uju , media assistant to Hon Emeka Okoronkwo, Imo state Sports Commissioner, the commitment of the Imo State Government led by His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma towards Sports development has remained so unwavering in all ramifications since the Shared Prosperity Administration came on board.
“It is in this regard that the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Youth and Social Development Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo has put all modalities in place which has contributed immensely towards ensuring that Heartland Queens football Club of Owerri pulls through in the first round of the 2023 Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) which ended Wednesday 18th January, 2023.
“It is noteworthy to state that the State Government has done very well for the Team both at the qualification stage which the Girls finished on a flying colours that made it possible for the team to make a return to the top-flight league after a very long while to the take off, of the NWFL season.
“Following the commencement of the Nigerian Women Football League season recently, the Shared Prosperity Government led by His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma through the Ministry of Sports has equally continued to provide all the logistics and encouragement needed by the Owerri Landladies to perform well in the first round of the nation’s female top flight league which its curtain was drawn on Wednesday after the Match day 7 fixtures of the league in which Heartland Queens FC in one of the matches defeated Osun Babes at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
“While the State Government through the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo has reassured of the unwavering commitment of the Government towards providing every support for the Owerri based female Team to excel, it’s hoped that Heartland Queens FC will further reciprocate the efforts of the 3R administration with excellent performance not just in the final match of the first round but also in the second round of the league season that will start on the 8th of February, 2023.
