IMSU RE-ACTIVATES IT’S INAUGURAL LECTURE SERIES

Imo state University, Owerri has expressed its resolve to reactivate its inaugural lecture series in the University.

The Vice – Chancellor, Prof. Bethram Nwoke stated this in his speech on the occasion of the 5th inaugural lecture with the theme “Does agriculture have a future in South East Nigeria” by Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba held at the University auditorium, Owerri.

Prof. Nwoke noted that inaugural lecture sustains the University, maintaining that Imo state University has produced best lawyers in the country.

He thanked Governor Rochas Okorocha for finding him worthy to lead the University.

In his lecture on “Does Agriculture have a future in South East Nigeria, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba re commended a national strategy of adaptation where scientist would forecast the weather and give prior information to agriculturists.

Prof. Nwajiuba noted that we are in the rainforest area of Nigeria where average temperature is increasing, rainfall is not changing and rainy days reduces reveling that there will be erosion challenges.

He remarked that food production can increase as population increases and called for mechanized agriculture pointing out that agriculture has a future in the South East.

In his speech, the secretary to the government of Imo state Prof. Anthony Anwuka who represented the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha requested the Ministry of information to allow 2 hours broadcast of the lecture.

Prof Anwuka decried that rural – urban migration retards development and called on Civil Servants to accept government policies to go home and develop their areas.
