..Seeks SWAN Collaboration
Imo state capital, Owerri has been granted the hosting rights of the National Sports Festival Zonal Elimination for South East expected to hold between October 4th and 7th.
Making this known to Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo chapter when they paid him a courtesy visit, the Director of Sports, Imo Sports Commission, Sir Ferdinand Emeana said the state capital would be ready to host the rest of the South East after the Directors of Sports in the zone met in Enugu recently and agreed that the Eastern Heartland should host the zonal elimination.
He said Imo state would be taking part in six team sporting events in the male and female. The sports are Handball, football, basketball, volleyball, and Hockey.
Sir Emeana asked for collaboration between Imo SWAN and the Imo Sports Commission while assuring that all the body’s concerns would be looked into.
Earlier, the state chairman, SWAN, Everest Ezihe thumbed up the giant strides recorded by the Director of Sports while requesting for more synergy between Imo SWAN and the Imo Sports Commission.
He asked for the inclusion of Imo sports journalists in the forthcoming National Sports Festival and the National Youth Games and that it would also be more befitting for sports journalists in the state to have their office within the precinct of the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri again after the inhuman demolition of the Association’s office by the previous Imo Government.
Some of the dignitaries that attended the programme were, Mrs Patricia Ezeji, Head, Organizing and Elite, Imo Sports Commission, Felix Abanobi, Mrs Justina Akpulor, Adaugo Onyeji, and Steve Onu.
Others at the event from the stable of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo chapter were: Everest Ezihe, (Chairman), Johnkennedy Uzoma (Vice Chairman), Tunde Liadi (Secretary), Sampson Orji (National SWAN Financial Secretary), John Nwaogu, Cosmos Chukwuemeka, Ahize Anthony, Kingsley Anosike among others.
