Except there is a divine intervention, Chairman, and Managing Director, Imo State Oil Producing Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Rev Ebomnche and Chief Emeka Okafor respectively will be fired from office by the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha any moment from now.
Reasons for their sack were sketchy as at press time, but Imo Trumpeta learnt that the number one citizen of the state, might be uncomfortable with the conduct of these two principal officers of the commission.
In recent times, Ebomuche and Okafor were alleged to have enmeshed themselves in several scams, a development which led to plethora of petitions and complains from far and near over their activities.
Recently, the duo were guests at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarter in Abuja, where they were said to have gone to explain some of their actions and activities which also bordered on corrupt practices.
The commission’s helmsmen accordingly made startling confessions to the anti-graft-agency about their activities at the commission which shocked their employers and exposed them as mediocres and never-do wells.
It was gathered that at the moment, both the Chairman and MD, are running from pillar to post appealing to those close to Governor Okorocha to sheath his sword.
A reliable source in the commission told Imo Trumpeta that the Governor had okayed their sack some weeks ago, but the intervention of the Speaker, the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumuogu and Secretary to the Imo State Government, Chief Anthony Anwuka. Anwuka hails from one of the oil producing local Governments in the State, Oguta LGA and believed to be strongly behind the MD.
The intervention of the Speaker and SSG was said to have temporarily compelled the Governor to hold on to his action as some members of the ISOPADEC board might also be on the firing line, since Okorocha is said to be dissatisfied with their performance, output, composure and inability to keep affairs of the commission secret.
Investigations also reveal that a former Commissioner of Culture and Tourism in the present Administration and a former APGA house of Representatives contestant in the Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta axis have been tipped to replace both Ebomuche and Okafor.
