The Kpakapando Foundation Gives To The Less Privileged.

The Kpakpando Foundation, a non- governmental organization set up by senator Osita Izunaso has awarded scholarship to seven blind persons as part of the organization’s commitment to assist the less privileged.

Speaking at the presentation of the awards in Owerri, the executive secretary of the foundation, Prince Denton Ogbuehi said the award is in line with the aims and objectives of the foundation

He recalled how loveline obiji, the Paralympics gold medalist, was a beneficiary of the foundation.

He commended the senator for the awards, which he described as marvelous, adding that the foundation which was established seven years ago, has catered for the needs of the less privileged incapacitated by accident or other factors.

He called on the National Assembly to pass into law the National Disability Bill and sued for the accent of the President on it.

He reiterated that as the World marks World Disability Day, it is important the Bill is passed, as it will elevate Nigeria to the platform of comity of nations with disability rights as enshrined in their laws.

He enjoined well meaning Nigerians to emulate the strides of the founder and president of the foundation, senator Izunaso in his efforts to render assistance to the poor.

Ogbuehi recalled that Kpankpando foundation had on October 30th 2012, marked its annual awards and first humanity Awards ceremony which attracted Governor Rochas Okorocha and chaired by former senate president, Senator Ken Nnamani and other top dignitaries.

However, as part of the foundation’s resolve to carry on with its noble aims, Ogbuehi stated that the foundation has laid the foundation stone for the construction of a special school that will admit its first set of students in October 2013.

He commended Governor Okorocha for recognizing the special needs of Physically Challenged Persons in the State.
