The All Progressive Congress APC, has since conducted its Presidential Primaries, with a former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Ahmed Tinubu emerging as the Party’s flagbearer, but the result of that Primary is reverberating in Imo State, among the followers of Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
Feelers reaching Trumpeta Newspaper have it that Gov Uzodimma’s political camp, known as CampHope is yet to swallow the outcome of the primary, which threw up Tinubu as the candidate.
Trumpeta learnt that even though Governor Uzodinma has congratulated Tinubu, but very good number of the Governor’s political family are yet to digest the Tinubu project, as they rather show concern to Igbo course, and Good Governance as represented by Mr Peter Obi of Labour Party.
Trumpeta also learnt that Imo Delegates at the APC Presidential Primaries voted for the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, whose project revolved around the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.
This Newspaper was told that Imo Delegates, who are the bulk of Uzodinma’s political camp, are still not settled with Tinubu, even though their Boss, the Governor, has since accepted Tinubu, since that is the decision of the Majority of the Delegates across Nigeria.
It would be recalled that Uzodinma and others spearheaded the Lawan for Presidency Project, which nearly sailed through, except that Tinubu stood his ground that the primary must go through an election and not concensus.
Sources said that the CampHope Elements were sure that their Boss would have emerged the Vice Presidential candidate had Lawan emerged as candidate.
Therefore, with Tinubu’s emergence, that dream has crashed, as Tinubu will not look towards Imo State for the position of his vice.
However, Governor Uzodinma is said to have moved on and asked his followers to support the Tinubu course, as they would have done for Lawan had he emerged.
But the advise seems to have fallen on deaf ears, as this Newspaper learnt that rather than go for Tinubu, most of CampHope members are catching the Peter Obi. Bug, which seems to be spreading across Nigeria.
However, indications are that with time the Uzodinma followers will soon get over the shock and join the Tinubu Train as directed by their Leader, Gov Hope Uzodinma, a source said.
