Nigeria’s under 17 football team has assured that they will qualify for the African Youth Championship next year.
Coach of the two-time under 17 FIFA World Champions, Manu Garba on Wednesday inAbuja, stated that his boys are battle ready for theBamakotie this weekend.
The Golden Eaglets who flew out of the country on Wednesday afternoon toMali, holds a 2 – 0 first leg advantage over the Junior Eagles of Mali.
Manu’s boys had been training inAbujafor the past couple of days because the match on Sunday will be played on an astro turf pitch.
The over all winner of the two legged encounter will qualify for next year’s African Junior Championship inMorocco.
“We are set for theBamakowar and by the special grace of God, we shall secure our qualification to the African Championship,” Coach Garba said.
“Our preparations have been thorough and the players know what lies ahead of them and we are confident about our chances going for this match and we pray God crown all our efforts with resounding success”. Manu stated.
Meanwhile, the Executive Governor of Cross River State Liyel Imoke has charged the Eaglets to go for an outright victory againstMalion Sunday to secure a ticket to the 2013 African U17 Championship.
Governor Imoke in his address to the young lads commended their dedication to training and in all their matches.
“We have seen what you are capable of doing overtime and I’m very proud that you have won all your past matches including the 2 – 0 victory overMalithe last time” the Governor stated in a message sent through his sports commissioner, Patrick Ugbe.
