The Imo female football team at the 18th National Sports Festival on Wednesday crashed out of the female category of the football event.
Reports reaching Imo Trumpeta reveal’s that the team met their waterloo at the hands of the host team (Lagos) who humbled them3-0 at the Agege Stadium, venue of the football events.
Imo had earlier on Monday lost narrowly toEdoState1-2 in their first group game which made their match withLagoson Wednesday a must-win one.
Our Correspondent in Lagos did also reveal that with the two losses recorded by the girls, their chances of making it to the next round has been dashed since the other state in their group Adamawa pulled out of the female football event.
This therefore means thatEdoStatealongsideLagoswill qualify for the knock-out stage slated to start this weekend.
Meanwhile, the State also narrowly missed wining a medal on Wednesday when the state’s male and female cyclists both placed fourth in their 500m races that took place at Eric-Moore road, Surulere.
The cyclists however, were to try their luck in the 1km and 4km races which was billed for Thursday morning and evening respectively.
So far,RiversStateseemed to have taken an early lead at the medals table after clinching 3 Gold medals and one Silver all from the cycling events as at Wednesday night.
Imo State however is believed to have shot herself into a good position of winning either gold or silver after its Judo team qualified for the semi-finals event that were tobe decided on Thursday.
