.List of Elective Position Contenders Increase
The State office of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Imo State, located at Okigwe Road, Owerri has turned to a beehive of activities, as Aspirants for various elective positions thronged the premises to obtain their nomination forms.
Trumpeta discovered yesterday that there was gridlock of vehicles as the visitors to the PDP offices blocked the busy Okigwe Road in a frantic effort to purchase forms.
Trumpeta was told that the deluge of Aspirants was prompted in a bid to beat the deadline given by the party for purchase of Forms.
This Newspaper learnt that the party had shifted the last day of submission and sale of forms to Friday, April 8, 2022.
Apart from fresh Names jostling for the Forms, former elected politicians, including those who had served two, three to four terms were sighted purchasing or submitting Forms.
Political observers said that the array of Aspirants trooping into Imo PDP office to obtain Forms for the 2023 elections, is an indication that the PDP is bubbling and alive as ever.
Speaking to Trumpeta, the party’s Publicity, Hon Nmeregini said that the only political party that exists in Imo is PDP, which can be attested by the activities happening in the party’s office.
Meanwhile some of the Aspirants that have obtained Forms including Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi (Owerri/Imo East) Chief Emma Okewulonu (Okigwe Senate) Hon Bede Eke (Ngor Okpala/Aboh Mbaise) Hon Henry Nwawuba (Mbaitoli/Ikeduru) Engr Alberth Agulana (Ngor Okpala/Aboh Mbaise) Dr Uzoma (Ngor Okpala/Aboh Mbaise) Rex Okoro (Ahiazu Constituency) Chuks Chilaka (Ahiazu State Constituency).
Others including Hon Jerry Alagbaso (Orlu/Orsu/Oru West) Chief Kingsley Odionyenma (Ngor Okpala Constituency) Hon Chika Okafor (Obowo State Constituency) Chief John Bosco Nkpadobi (Nwangele State Constituency)
Speaking to Trumpeta, the Organizing Secretary of Imo PDP, whose office was busy with human population, Nze Law Biaduo disclosed that his office has been too busy that he and his staff hardly sleep now.
He maintained that there is no State Constituency, Federal or Senatorial Zones in Imo State that PDP is not parading Aspirants, and promised that PDP will bounce back even in areas it lost House of Assembly members who defected after the election.
“PDP is any where you go. The party is waxing stronger in Imo State, with members pumping in from various political parties” Nze Ray Emeana, the State Secretary told Trumpeta.
