Imo APC Aspirants In Disarray Imo APC Aspirants In Disarray

. Over Concensus Candidate Arrangement

Tension has risen in the Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC as aspirants seeking to grab the party’s ticket for 2023 general elections are in disarray over what next in the ruling party.

Based on the regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, collection of nomination forms and expression of interest has started from last month of March for April meaning that candidates would emerge between now to June 3rd, 2022 while other parties have witnessed influx of party members seeking nomination forms, nothing can be heard of the APC.

Trumpeta learnt that most aspirants of the APC in Imo State are not only confused but unaware of what the future has for them considering the latest development where the party is yet to roll out programs for the aspirants concerning collection of form and expression of interest form for 2023 election.

This newspaper was informed that what heightened fears in the minds of the numerous aspirants is the issue of concensus candidate approach to be adopted by the state APC.

It was learnt that in line with the modalities that characterized  the Ward, LGA and State Congress where concensus model of selection of officials dominated proceedings, the same pattern shall be adopted for who will emerge the candidate of the party in 2023.

This pattern is heightened by what transpired at the national convention in Abuja where the national officers were elected through concensus via unanimous decision.

Fears are rife that those who do not have the blessing of the hierarchy of the party led by the governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma may not go anywhere near the ticket.

A source informed Trumpeta that there is air of discomfort among the aspirant who are disturbed by the latest development in the party.

Unlike in the PDP where candidates have made public their collection of forms, none has been able to do in APC due to the fear ravaging the party.
