History was made on Saturday the 26th day of March 2022 at Umunoha/Azara Ward in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State as Barr.Chinemerem Amara Egbuchulam openly made his intentions to run for Federal House of Representatives known.
Trumpeta learnt that the young lawyer and business tycoon made his interest known in a meeting at Umuokparafor Ward Office where he addressed Party executives as well as ward leaders of the People’s Democratic Party.
Speaking at the meeting, he made mention that the time has come for the young ones to come on board and change the narratives that have been in existence that is of no benefits to them.
Continuing, he maintained that the time has come for the good people of Mbaike to progress and be on the spotlight like other areas which is one of the reasons for which he has come out to deliver them out of darkness so as to enable them embrace light.
In his words he stated “it is quite unfortunate that Mbaike lacks federal presence and is still groping in darkness which is disheartening to him.
Comparing what i am seeing in my constituency with what i have seen and is still seeing in other parts of this country where i have worked believe me when I say without mincing words that we are still crawling”
Amara categorically frowned at the neglect of the Ukwuorji/Nwaorieubi -Iho road by successive representatives despite the economic value of the road to the people of Mbaike and Imo State at large.
In this regard, he vehemently assured the people that he would do all within his limits to ensure that all that should be theirs in the scheme of things in the Federal level wouldn’t be shortchanged.
Amara maintained that his leadership would be all inclusive as he equally promised that he would ensure that quality empowerment would be given to the people not Wheelbarrow, Keke and bus empowerment that is rampant amongst most politicians.
A Former House of Representatives member and a former commissioner of sports in Imo State Barr.Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN) who spoke at the event expressed delight and happiness with the bold step taken by Barr.Amara .
In his words “I always feel happy whenever i see young vibrant men standing up to defend their right by challenging a system which doesn’t believe that young men should be given a chance to rule but rather a system that seems to favor moneybags and elderly who have little or nothing to offer on the table.”
Ekomaru assured Amara of his unflinching and unalloyed support as he willingly extended his hand of fellowship by pledging to support his ambition by paying half of the cost of both his nomination and expression of interest form to show him how happy he is with him for embarking on this bold step.
Others who spoke to Trumpeta clearly stated that Amara’s declaration of interest to run for House of Reps is a welcomed development while others stated that it would bring more troubles for Rt.Hon Henry Nwawuba who is already eyeing a third term.
Hon. Barr. OYB Nwafor amongst others leaders in the ward expressed their joy at seeing a youngman such as Amara Mbaike coming forward to battle despite all odds
They unanimously agreed to support him while advising him ahead of the task that awaits him.
Barr.Amara responding to the above promised never to disappoint the people as he equally asked them to shine their eyes properly and vote for someone who would represent them well in all aspects.
Trumpeta learnt that Amara would be facing at the party primaries the likes of Incumbent Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba Osmond Ukanacho amongst others.
Also worthy of note is that victory at the primaries would see Amara Mbaike squaring off against the candidates of other parties with the likes of Akarachi Amadi who is currently making waves as the likely candidate of the All Progressive Congress.
