The newly renovated Ezeagbogu Football ground will host the next round games of the Ikukuoma Mbaise Unity Football Competition scheduled to commence January 21, 2022.
Obize will slug it out with their Ife/Chokoneze/Akpode counterparts in the opening match while Eziudo will lock horns with Otulu/Agunzeze in the second game on January 22.
Defending Champions Okpofe/Ezeagbogu will begin their title defence with a crunchy clash against Ibeku.
Mbaise football power house, Enyiogugu, will take on Oru/Na Lude while Nnarambia will host Okirika Nwenkwo.
Obama/Umunama takes on Obohia in the last game of the round.
Speaking ahead of the games holding at the home town of the cup donor and sponsor, Dr Summers Nwokie, team manager of Nnarambia, Finiel Ebuka, said he is grateful to the donor for providing the youths of Mbaise the platform to showcase their talents with the competition.
He recalled that last year, the competition provided opportunity to five youths to be invited by top clubs in the country.
“The players are currently undergoing intensive training”, he disclosed.
Organisers however admonished participating clubs to ensure that they arrived match venue at least two hours before kick off time.
Cup donor High Chief Summers Nwokie revealed that the Foundation will in future extend the tournament to all the Local Government Areas in Owerri zone to afford the youths the opportunity to engage their energy in meaningful ventures so as to assist in the development of the zone before he could extend the tournament to the state level
Director General of the foundation,
Julius Nneji, disclosed that already arrangement has been put in place for coaches of clubs in the country to attend the competition at various stages of the competition to scout for young players into their clubs.
