AFCON 2022: EOCF Boss, Sir Obidinm Wants Eagles To Imbibe Late Elkanah Onyeali’s Patriotism

Few weeks to the commencement of the delayed African Cup of Nations AFCON, in Cameroon, the CEO/President of Elkanah Onyeali Care Foundation EOCF, Comrade Obidinma Onyeali (KSC) has charged Super Eagles players to imbibe the patriotic spirit exhibited by his late dad, Elkanah Onyeali.

Reacting to the replacement of Genort  Rohr with Ex International, Augustine ‘Cerezo’ Eguavoen, Sir Obidinma argued that we might bring in the best gaffer in the world but that without patriotism from the players that the team may not gel to perform optimally at the tournament proper.

He continued that during the playing days of his father who the nation’s football governing body (NFA) at that time flew him (Elkanah) for the first time while he was still schooling and playing for Tranmere Rovers in Liverpool, England, that he (Elkanah) and his colleagues had that high level of patriotism which galvanised them to produce optimal performance against their opponents.

Sir Obidinma insisted that the crop of Super Eagles today can lift the Nations cup but warned that they must show a great deal of patriotism in their games.

“Yes i think our team especially with the quality of players we have, we can win the AFCON again but they must show commitment and patriotism to be able to be ready to die on the field of play.

“In 1980 when we won the first AFCON as well as in 1994′ and 2013 when we won it for the second and third time, the teams always had patriotism in them.

“We actually need a good coach but i feel the players must show patriotism to stand out in Cameroon when the Nations cup begins in January 2022.
