Under Uzodinma, IMSU Drops In NUC Ranking ..FUTO, Hezekiah Varsity Others, In Pole Position ..As State University Gets 100th Position Out Of 113

Few days after the Shared Prosperity administration of Sen Hope Uzodinma made a high score with the Ozumba Mbadiwe University’s recognition by the Nigerian University Commission NUC, the Imo State University IMSU, recently has dropped in ranking.
Trumpeta gathered from an overall ranking table published recently that the state owned varsity, IMSU fell down the pecking order placing a rather disappointing 100th out of 113.
More worrisome is that fact that Federal University Of Technology, Owerri FUTO, Hezekiah University in Nkwere among other private owned universities ranked well above the Imo state owned varsity to the dismay of Imolites and admirers of the institution who on a radio talk show. “the people’s assembly’ on Hot 99.5 FM, Owerri yesterday morning expressed their dismay.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) meanwhile, ranked the University of Ibadan (UI) first and the overall best University In Nigeria and best federal University in its latest 2021 ranking released on Sunday.

The ranking, which was carried out using twelve indicators, involved 113 universities across Nigeria.

The institutions were ranked based on the google scholar index, the total number of full-time students, students and staff ratio, efficiency, the number of international students, and contribution to the knowledge economy.

Other criteria include; percentage of Programmes with full-time accreditation, percentage of international staff, all citations per capita, amongst others.
