After showing some rare display of legislative expertise in the state legislature that saw his voice heard always, member representing Oguta State constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly appears to be a flash in the pan exponent.
Going by his antecedents in recent times coupled with lamentations from a section of his constituents, the lawmaker may be a candidate for recall.
Trumpeta learnt that aggrieved people of Oguta State Constituency are considering bringing him back to his Oru Ward for what they term “dismal representation.
Trumpeta recalls that when the 9th House commenced legislative procedings, Ugboma was one of the members that spoke on the floor of the House. Apart from contributions on debates, the lawyer turned lawmaker moved motions and bills.
However, in the past months, the lawmaker appears to have become dumb on the floor during Plenary.
Unlike in the past he was very vocal to speak on issues affecting the House, he has maintained sealed lips which has attracted his constituents to think of a recall.
From his suspected new found “siddon the look” posture, Ugboma is being accused of allegedly turning his back to his people..
Trumpeta learnt that Ugboma’s silence in the House commenced during the emergence of former Speaker, Paul Emeziem. This newspaper was informed that during the Emeziem period, the Oguta lawmaker hardly neither showed face in the chamber nor made contributions. Most times he was found inside his office while plenary sessions were on.
But the lawmaker seems to be maintaining the “no talk” stance despite the removal of Emeziem and coming of Rt Hon Kennedy Ibeh as he now speaks in hushed tones different from his vocal disposition of the past.
What may have irked his constituents to thinker of a recall process for him is hinged on several allegations he has been accused of.
He is been accused of allegedly abandoning his people unlike his colleagues who organise regular empowerment programs except for the four wheel chairs he was said to have given to disabled persons in December last year..
He was also accused of not allegedly making available palliative during the COVID-19 peak period and couldn’t emulate others to raise building for indigent person in Oguta LGA. He was accused of only making available face mask.
Though, it could not be ascertained if he has attracted any Constituency project as he was accused to have failed in this aspect but his alleged indifference approach to the crisis in some parts of the LGA was also spotted as part of the reasons to advocate for his recall.
Trumpeta further learnt that discussions are on among his dissatisfied constituents for a recall push.
Efforts to reach Ugboma for reactions proved abortive as Trumpeta calls to him were not through.
