Imo Assembly Concludes Leadership Seminar, Speaker Given Thumbs Up

The Leadership seminar organized by the House Leadership of the 9th Imo State House of Assembly, under Speaker Kennedy Ibeh has successfully ended in Owerri, the State capital.

The seminar commenced on Sunday, December 12th, 2021, and rounded off yesterday 13th, at the Imo Concorde Hotel.

Apart from the full attendance of  Members of the State Legislature, the Legislative workers were not left out in the exercise.

Earlier in his opening speech, the Speaker, Rt Hon Kennedy Ibeh welcomed the Lawmakers for their full participation.

He described the seminar  as an act that ought to be adopted periodically.

The Speaker hinged his reasons for organizing the seminar which included the quest for meeting up with the modern trend required of Legislative workers and the Lawmakers themselves.

He commended The State Executive for creating the enabling environment, while maintaining that the Imo House of Assembly under his watch would always give the Executive and other sister arm of Government; the Judiciary, the desired synergy.

Ibeh added that no State thrives in the face of disunity, hence called for the continued support of the Imo masses.

He further re-assured of excellence from the Leadership of the House, as well as from the members.

Speaking further, he envisaged that the program would uplift the standard of Legislation in Imo State.

The Obowo House Member expressed optimism that through the tutorials learnt from the workshop, there will be massive difference from both the members and staff.

The Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, the Majority Leader, Hon Kanayo Dele Onyemaechi, the Chief Whip, Hon Chigozie Nwaneri, among other Lawmakers expressed their delight.
They eulogised the Speaker for thinking out from the box.

According to them, none of his predecessors had such knowledge of organizing such an educative and interactive seminar, but within his one month in office, there are changes.

They however beckoned on the Speaker to sustain the tempo.

Similarly, the Clerk of the House, Chinelo Adaora Emeghara Esq, was full of joy. She affirmed that the Staff would always put in what they learnt into practice for smooth Law making and for the yearned development of the State.

According to the Resource persons, Chief Jide Olutoye, and Amb. Jerry Ugokwe respectively, who took them on budgeting, structuring  and contents, stated that a budget is like the centre of work in every government, pointing out that without feasible budgeting and appropriation, the State would be stagnant.

He opined that in budgeting, the neglect on  prioritization could be disastrous and urged the Lawmakers to always do it right.

While urging them to do things right, he reiterated on working synergy between them and the Executive, not for their personal gains, but, for the interest of Ndi Imo.

Other Assembly Staff however thumbed up for the Speaker for the initiative.
