National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has received an Award of Excellence as “Imo Personality Man of The Year” by Mezie Imo Clergy Forum in collaboration with Young Igbo Christians Ministers Congress (Global Igbo Clergy Congress.
According to the President, Bishop Prof Athan Azubuike, the Award was bestowed on Senator Anyanwu as part of the 2021 bi-annual congress programmes in recognition of his outstanding contributions in human and material resources.
Bishop Azubuike revealed that Senator Anyanwu defeated other candidates in a thoroughly and keenly contested internal poll to emerge the winner, describing him as a man after God’s heart who is ready to renew his society.
Responding, Senator Anyanwu represented by his Media Aide, Ikenna Onuoha thanked Imo clergy for finding him worthy of the award, and promised not to disappoint them in his bid to work for the development of the state.
Anyanwu charged them to be fervent in prayers especially, now that government has woefully failed to provide adequate security, adding that their intercession is capable of touching lives of wicked and selfish leaders to create employment opportunities for the teeming jobless youths and as well, boost the economy.
He regretted that due to unemployment and the rising hunger, some youths resorted to drug use and abuse as an enabler to exhaust their sorrows, stressing that if government had played its part, there is no way a resourceful youth would allow himself to be destroyed by drugs.
He maintained that PDP remains the best alternative to create employment and change the current political narrative, noting that the party is always willing to correct the mistakes of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if Nigerians can come together to vote her in 2023.
