The President and CEO of Elkananh Onyeali Care Foundation EOCF, the parent body of Elkanah Onyeali FC Academy, Comrade Obidinma Onyeali (KSC) has lauded NFF for honoring Super Falcons Class of 99 for their heroics.
The Super Falcons’ class of 1999 that reached the quarter finals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup staged in the United States of America Were the star of attraction during the NFF/Aiteo award night held in Lagos early this week
The class of 1999 who were celebrated by the NFF include;
Marta Terhemba, Gloria Usieta, Nkiru Okosieme, Maureen Mmadu, Rita Nwadike, Ifeanyi Chiejine(late), Marvis Ogun, Prisca Emeafu, Adanna Nwaneri, Yinka Kudaisi, Marvis Ogun, Kikelomo Ajayi Nkechi Egbe, Patience Avre, Mercy Akide-Udoh, Stella Mbachu, Ann Agumanu, Judith Chime and Florence Iweta.
In a statement made available by the Foundations Secretary, Orji Sampson, Sir Obidinma extolled the ladies whom he said significantly toed the footsteps of his Late Father, Elkanah Onyeali in making Nigeria proud.
While thanking the organizers of the award night for celebrating patriotic Nigerians in sports, Sir Obidinma singled out Imo indigenes, Maureen Madu, Rita Nwadike and Stella Mbachu for also outing the name of the state on the world map with their exploits.
He therefore challenged the younger players to always see the selfless and patriotic attributes of the Class 99 Super Falcons as an inspiration and that one day they too will be honoured for doing the nation proud.
It was a night were female football was celebrated at the Eko Hotels, as Asisat Oshoala and class of Super Falcons 1999 were the high point of the NFF/Aiteo award night.
The performance of the Super Falcons in that tournament remains etched in the memory and it is important that we honour them and as well encourage them to continue in their good works.
