The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has released the final list of its National Convention Committee, saddled with the organizing of the Party’s National Convention that comes on 30 to 31 October 2021 in Abuja.
The occasion will be to elect New National Chairman, and members of the National Working Committee NWC, to run the party in the next four years.
Those selected for the Committee to organize the convention from Imo are former Governors of Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, and, Chief Achike Udenwa, former Ambassador, Federal Minister and Ex-National Woman Leader PDP, Dr (Mrs) Kema Chikwe, Deputy National Financial Secretary of PDP, Hon Chief Henry Ekpe, and former South East Zonal Chairman, Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu.
In a press release signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan, the inauguration of the Committee will take place at PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Zone 4, Abuja, on Friday by 11am.
The Committee has been saddled with the task of conducting a free and fair National Convention on October 30-31 to replace the out-going National Working Committee.
The exercise will usher in a new National Chairman that will succeed the out-going Chairman, Chief Uche Secondus.
Meanwhile, Senator Sam Daddy Anyanwu is a member of the PDP National zoning committee, headed by the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Ugwuanyi.
The job of the Zoning Committee is to find the solution on which of the Zones the President of the PDP would be taken to, including other National Working Committee Seats, like the National Secretary, Woman Leader, Treasurer, Organizing Secretary, Youth Leader, Legal Adviser, and Auditor.
Indications are that Imo State who occupied the office of the Deputy National Financial Secretary (DNFS) will this time be given a position in the National Working Committee (NWC).
Before now, only Ebonyi, Enugu, and Abia States in the Southeast have seats on in the NWC, courtesy of Zonal Chairman, Youth Leader, and Organizing Secretary respectively.
The only office meant for Imo in the National Executive Committee, NEC, is occupied by Hon Chief Henry Ekpe as the Deputy National Financial Secretary.
Speaking to Journalists in Abuja, Ekpe said that he is grateful to the Imo PDP Leaders who gave him the opportunity to represent the party in Imo State at the National level, adding that he has given his best and remain a strong member of PDP, as the party moves into the National Convention in October to elect new National Officers of the party.
“I am grateful to the Leaders and God who made it possible for me to be where I am today in PDP National. PDP remains one family in Imo State despite the challenges and harsh environment the party operates in the State” Ekpe said.
