3 Year After: Ex Imo Deputy Gov, Madumere Reveals How He Survived Impeachment

Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has once again opened up about his relationship with former boss and ex governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha during their period in office.
Having kept mute for a while about what transpired between him and Okorocha, the Achi-Mbieri, Mbaitoli LGA born politician has made public part of those who assisted him to survive the onslaught from that would have seen him out of office from 2015 to2019.
In 2011,  Okorocha became Governor; Prince Madumere was appointed his Chief of Staff.
Following the impeachment of Chief Jude Agbaso, Okorocha’s first deputy Madumere was made Deputy Governor by Okorocha. Both ran a joint ticket and emerged victorious in 2015.
However, things turned awry for Madumere when their relationship got sour to the extent, the former Deputy Governor faced removal from the House of Assembly, though wasn’t impeached.
Speaking at an event in Owerri, Madumere disclosed that Governor  of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu and wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu were instrumental to his survival.
According to Madumere, but for the Ondo governor and wife, the plot of remove him as Deputy Governor would have been actualized.
Revealing further on what transpired, Madumere said it was the pieces of advice the Akeredolu family offered during his travails that made him not to be removed from office unjustly.
Said he “during the period of my ordeal, when I was unjustly and forcefully being dragged to a “political skull”, this First Lady (Betty Akeredolu) with a beautiful heart stood like Rock of Gibrultar. She said no to injustice.
“She supported me and gives me soothing words of exhortation. She joined many others to ensure I was not put to shame.
“Ada Owerri (Betty Akeredolu) also created room for me to see Governor Akeredolu who left his meeting to see me. He is a humble man, human but he hates injustice” Madumere added.
While adding how Akeredolu told him that the problem was not the end of life, used the opportunity to thank people of Owerri zone and Imo in general who spoke to condemn the act to remove his unjustly.
