Details of how those elected from Imo State are representing their various senatorial zones and federal constituencies from June 2019-May 2021, excluding Bills sponsored outside this period have been obtained.
From what Trumpeta got from Orderpaper; a news outfit with special interest on the activities of the National Assembly, Federal Lawmakers from the state have collectively sponsored 45 Bills within the period under review.
A cursory review of the data places Senator Onyewuchi Ezenwa of the PDP who is of the Owerri zone and Ideato’s Paschal Obi of Reps top of the chart for Bills Senate and Reps respectively. While Ezenwa has eight Bills in his kitty Obi is with seven.
Following Ezenwa with highest number is former governor Rochas Okorocha who representing Orlu zone with seven Bills.
Going second for the House of Reps is Mbaitoli/Ikeduru member, Henry Nwawuba.
Unfortunately in the Red chamber, new man to the scene, Senator, Frank Ibezim has no record of Bill but the man he replaced, late Ben Uwnjumogu sponsored two Bills before he died in 2019.
After Obi and Nwawuba are members Reps Njaba, Isu, Nkwerre, Nwangele Fed Constituency, Hon Ugonna Ozuruigbo and his Okigwe North counterpart Hon Mirian Onuoha. Both are of APC.
Hon Bede Eke of Ngor Okpala/Aboh Mbaise has four Bills while two Bills are for the member Rep Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta, Oru West Fed Constituency, Hon Kingsley Uju Chima.
Recorded one Bill in his kitty is Hon Chinedu Martins of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise.
Ironically, three members may have been on the floor watching others make presentation as no Bill has their names attached to it. They are Honourables Ikenna Elezianya of Owerri Fed Constituency, Chike Okafor of Okigwe South and Jerry Alagbaoso, Orsu, Orlu and Oru East.
Alagbaoso is spending his third tenure in the House of Reps likewise Okafor who is on second missionary journey. Only Elezianya is a first timer even as he has been to the Imo State House of Assembly as member who represented Owerri West State Constituency.
